Palliative care
for pets in Gold Coast

Expert at-home care to keep your pet comfortable and enjoying their best quality of life through pain management, symptom relief, and comprehensive support for your whole family.

How it works

Our qualified vet nurses are here to help from your first call.

Every family's journey is different. Here's what the next few steps may look like, so you feel informed and prepared every step of the way.

  1. Call one of our vet nurses

From the moment you reach out, our qualified vet nurses are here to help. With years of clinical experience, they will listen and help guide you on next best steps.

  2. We assess your pet at home

One of our vets visits your home to assess your pet and understand their needs. We also coordinate with your existing vet.

  3. We build a care plan together

A tailored plan covering pain management, medications, and home environment adjustments, specific to your pet.

  4. Ongoing visits and support

Regular home visits or telehealth rechecks. Medication administration if needed. And honest guidance when things change.

Every call is answered by a qualified vet nurse, not a call centre. Someone who deeply understands what your pet may be going through, can answer your clinical questions honestly, and will gently guide you towards the right next step for your family.

Dr Camila de Silva

Dr Camila de Silva

Veterinarian

After many years in emergency and general practice, Dr Camila discovered a deep calling for end-of-life care. Inspired by caring for her own beloved Great Dane, Iron, through hospice, she understands the challenges families face when navigating a pet's final chapter. Known for her compassionate guidance, calm presence and supportive approach, she is dedicated to keeping your beloved pet comfortable while ensuring families feel heard, informed and at ease during deeply emotional moments. Dr Camila graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. Since then she has pursued advanced training in emergency and critical care, acupuncture and natural nutrition, building a broad foundation for her work in hospice, palliative and end-of-life care. She believes in an integrative approach that combines evidence-based medicine with complementary therapies to support comfort, wellbeing and quality of life, and is currently undertaking further certification in hospice and palliative care through the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care. She believes in creating peaceful, unhurried farewells that honour the deep bond between pets and their families, embracing the idea that "when we honour death, we honour life" (Antonia Lyons). She is also proud to be CAETA certified in best practice euthanasia.

Dr Alaric Martell

Dr Alaric Martell

Veterinarian

I moved to the Gold Coast after graduating from the University of Queensland in 2021. I've worked in general practice clinics around the central and northern Gold Coast, up to Tamborine and out near Yarrabilba. A core motivation for becoming a vet was, and still is, to relieve pain and suffering in our smallest, fluffiest family members. In practice, I came to deeply appreciate the love, sacrifice and dedication we feel for our pets. I'm passionate about helping owners give their pets the most comfortable life possible in their twilight years, and about guiding families through the difficult kindness of saying goodbye. The day we say hello to our beloved pets is every bit as important as the day we say goodbye. ❤️

★★★★★

“The business you run is incomparable. From the initial reach out call to the very end, you have all been professional however balanced with compassion, patience and understanding. Dr Camilla is beautiful. She was compassionate, patient, calm, soothing, giving. I truly don't know how she does it. She made myself and my family feel as though we were the most important people. Our little Batty aka 'Batdog' went so calmly and peacefully. Truly, the business you are and people you have employed are irreplaceable. Thank you from the bottom of our heart for making a really tough day, manageable. ❤️🦇🐾”

“We had an amazing experience with Rest Your Paws when we had to put our 8yo Kelpie (Pancake) to rest due to illness. Dr Camilla was the kindest and most thoughtful human to do this for us. Nothing was rushed and we were able to take our time and spend our final moments together quietly and peacefully at home. As difficult as it was to loose our best friend Dr Camilla made us feel at ease, she even brought a chocolate muffin, a real treat before passing. I can’t thank the team at RYP enough for looking after us and Pancake Thank you”
